ABOUT ALEXAfter receiving my Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis, I worked in social services for ten years, mostly supporting people with disabilities. In 2003, after burnout, I made a leap of faith and chose to re-discover my passion for photography and Strazzanti Photography & Art was created. I began by taking landscape and travel photographs and selling them at the Fremont and Edmonds Markets. I'll never forget the first time a customer bought a photo of mine from the Cinque Terre. The connection with them was exhilarating; they were feeling the same thing I felt when I captured the moment.
After seeing all the talented artists at these markets, I decided to open Oasis Art Gallery in Wallingford to showcase local artists in a comfortable environment with art at approachable prices. For seven years, we curated four exhibitions each year, featuring more than 100 artists, including the spearheading of an art rental program. My photography business grew to focus on real estate photos, artwork reproduction, and marketing for small businesses. My passion for art also drew me to become the coordinator for the Magnolia Arts Festival, and then the co-director of the Wedgwood Art Festival. During this time I still stayed connected to my social service roots by starting a non-profit, Plus One Foundation, with my friend Kacey, which provides grants to people with neurological disorders so they can participate in activities that aid with rehabilitation. Having started many different kinds of businesses, I've learned a lot about website design, marketing, fundraising, graphic design, and project management. I use all those skills daily to help various businesses get their ideas off the ground. During COVID I delved into uncharted territory and tried abstract painting for the first time. I just bought one canvas and a few paints because it was just a 'bucket list' thing to do. But I fell in love with the flow of the paint which acted like water; a subject that has inspired many of my photographs over the years. I photograph each painting so customers have the option of buying prints. In 2022, after two decades of doing real estate photography, I decided to shift more into painting and running art events. I now work for the Northwest Art Alliance, where I coordinate the Best of the Northwest Shows and other art events in the area. In my spare time I enjoy giving back as a Board Member with NEST (Northeast Seattle Together) and getting outside to kayak in the many beautiful places around the PNW. Still, nothing excites me more than travel - especially to National Parks of which I have visited 47. Thank you for your time and please feel free to reach out if you would like to connect.
