Bamboo
has the unique characteristics of maintaining its bright green
color throughout the winter and bending without breaking in
the strongest winds. Therefore, in Chinese culture bamboo symbolizes
courage, strength, and gracefulness. Also, in Buddhism the
straight upright bamboo stem represents the path to enlightenment.
In order to capture a likeness to sumi-e style strokes, I photographed
the bamboo plant's shadow. Colors were digitally added to create
mood and style. Limited Edition Series. 120 of each color and
