The Isatec Technical Center provides tooling, engineering
and R&D services for the metalforming industry. A recently
patented process developed there required high resoluion
macro shots of laboratory production samples.

Isatec was developing a new method of predicting the
surface quality of formed steel objects before the part was
formed. Conventionally, protoypes are fabricated and sent to
customers for approval. Isatec's new process correlates
output data from Finite Element Method software to an image
database to provide a simulated 3D model of the final part's
appearance.
Several examples of the database of surface images created
by Strazzanti Photography for Isatec are shown at left.
Consistency of image quality and the orientation of the
camera was critical to the process. Isatec utilizes the images
in their patented process to predict the appearance of formed
metal objects before they are made.
